The GLD had a quick chat to the amazingly gorgeous and much loved Liezel Van der Westhuizen - one of the most famous faces on South African television today.

Such a pretty girl!

The former presenter of South African Idol and now hosting a breakfast show weekdays live from Cape Town, this lovely lady has proven that she can play and compete against the best out there!

Catch our exclusive Q&A to the beautiful blonde...

GL: We’ve been a huge fan since your hosting days on SA Idols, but tell us… Who is Liezel Van der Westhuizen?
LvW: Liezel is a sister; best friend and a dynamic lady with an abundant personality, She’s an Ironman Triathlete and someone who loves life. She is in her own right...truly one of a kind.

GL: You seem so comfortable in front of the camera – what’s your secret?
LvW: I think it all developed from my childhood, I have always enjoyed being in front of the camera and always put on plays for the parents in our neighbourhood. My secret is my natural confidence I have developed by loving what I do.

GL: We’re sure you’ve heard this one before, but you’re a fashion trendsetter. Who is your favourite local fashion designer and why?
LvW: Do I only have to mention one? I would say Thula Sindi because his designs capture the elegance of a woman.

GL: If you could punch any Hollywood actor/ actress in the face, who would it be and why?
LvW: Ha ha ha ha ...I would punch Lady Gaga in the face so that she can have a new look to sing with, and I know she’d love it.

Join Liezel every week morning on her show, Expresso the new breakfast show to SABC 3.

Thanks to Liezel for taking the time out of her busy schedule to chat to us!

It's finally here...

...Mr Gay South Africa, Francois Nel

The newly crowned Mr Gay South Africa 2010, Francois Nel is (so much) more than just a pretty face...

Face it South Africa, this is a perfect all-round package and it's no wonder the 28-year old make-up artist and hair stylist from Centurion took the coveted title!

The GLD recently chatted exclusively to Mr Gay South Africa 2010...

GL: Congratulations on your win, you made a lot of South African's very proud! Apart from what we read online and newspapers, who is Francois Nel?
FN: Thank you, and Thank you South Africa for your inspirational support. Dreamer! I'm a big dreamer, energetic, sporty and music lover. Busy body, caring, workaholic, perfectionist and an eater, love food! Luckily I love exercise too! I always enjoy a good dance, a good book, beautiful gardens, nature and animals. Always interested in Art, and my fellow human being.

GL: What is an average day in the shoes of Mr Gay South Africa?
FN: It always starts with coffee, black, a tea spoon and a half. It is a privilege, yesterday I spent the morning on a client's wedding, a day when love is celebrated. Then I was off to the opening of the new Resthill Frail Elderly Care Centre, where we donated a few litres of paint thanks to Plascon. I'm quite excited to get involved in another charity project there as they are busy with their garden. The evening we spent some leisure time together. This morning I'm going swimming.

GL: What do you think is the most important strength that you bring to the title?
FN: Ambition. I am very excited to be a part of a platform that I hope will bring people together. South Africa, is a plethora of cultures, views, people and societies and after international events the world is watching our beautiful country. We have a constitution that protects us and our different sexualities. As a fore runner in a true democracy where everyone has a voice, I am excited to be a part of the fight for equality and human rights and have a few events in mind already.

GL: If I gave you an Elephant where would you hide it?
FN: I won't hide it, hopefully it will be tame and I can pet it!

GL: The burning question on behalf of all the boys - are you in a relationship?
FN: I am in a loving relationship.

Beauty and brains!

Francois will represent South Africa at the Mr Gay World competition to be held in Manila, Philippines next year March. According to reports South Africa might just host Mr Gay World in 2012 - how awesome!

For more information visit the official website of Mr Gay South Africa or Nel's personal website

Congrats Francois, well deserved winner!

What a hottie, oh bless!

Talk about kicking-off your weekend on a perfect note...

SO funny and adorable, we die!

Ladies and gents, apart from Evita Bezuidenhout this is probably one of our most exciting celebrity features to date. The fabulosity of Eagan Williamson is so fierce that you will catch your entire summer tan in just one episode of his gossip show!

Better known as the co-presenter on kykNET’s Tonge Los, journalist, actor, MC and a celebrity in his own right…this young man is making his mark in the entertainment industry… and it’s not hard to understand why.

Catch our five questions to the ever-so-cute Eagan

GL: From the small town of Olifantshoek to a much loved celebrity…who is Eagan Williamson?
EW: A pretty normal (but sometimes completely outrageous) person with a great sense of humour. I am probably one of the luckiest people in the world, because I wake up every morning and absolutely adore what I'm doing. And the fact that I'm surrounded daily by wonderful friends and family also helps. I am completely addicted to romantic comedies, black forest cake and sleeping late. Other than that, I would still think that I have my feet firmly on the ground and my head in the clouds. And I am completely in love with my mom and siblings Nadia (19) and Cecil (37).

GL: We’re adoring fans of Tonge Los and never dare miss an episode – what is the most unforgettable story ever featured and why?
EW: All the stories in some way or another are like our little children - we love everyone of them the same. But if I had to choose, it'll be the story of my good friend for many years (the love-to-be-hated tabloid journalist) Yolanda Barnard, who fell into a jacuzzi during an event at a spa, but managed not to drop a single bit of red wine. Viewers probably only saw me laughing really uncontrollably. But the truth is that the editors had to cut out the piece where I was busy taking a sip of the juice on the table when Loui told the punch line - I had fruit juice sprayed all over Gavin, Loui and the camera crew. Hilarious!

GL: Any major drama with local celebs considering that you leave no stone unturned?
EW: Not really. There are not a lot of people that actually realise that we pretty much have great relationships with most of these celebs. A lot of times, they are the ones who tell us stories for the show. The only major issue I had was recently with actor and artist At Botha in a restaurant in Northcliff. He was not himself (apparently according to some of the other patrons, he was a bit intoxicated). I went out for pizza with friends, when he started shouting really loud about how crappy the show and me as a person is. All because we broke the story of his engagement before a magazine (who had rights to it) could run with it. Needless to say, my friends and I lost all the respect for him as an artist and much loved Afrikaans actor. His words were hateful, but I forgave him that same night!

GL: We’re so in love with you latest blonde hairdo – from your experience would you say blondes have more fun...?
EW: Oh most definitely! It is not the first time that I went blonde, but this time around there was actually method behind the madness. I got the hairstyle for a new acting project that I am embarking on in a few weeks. I cannot say too much right now, but it will be a blast and something that will take me completely out of the comfort zone I work in (namely television). I don't however know if it's because everyone knows me with dark hair, that I get a lot of funny stares from fans. Although many loves the do, one particular lady on Twitter was very frank: "I HATE the blonde. Hope you have enough hats to cover that on the show"! LOLLL

GL: Since this is a gossip blog, who do you think is the hottest local celebrity right now and why?
EW: Oh most definitely the comedian Trevor Noah! He is witty, charming, very attractive and sure as hell not poor after his recent Cell C campaign! I've seen ladies (and flamboyant gents) swooning over him. And then there is the young creed of artists that's making waves (Reynhard Hugo of Binnelanders, singers Willem Botha, Jay and Henri Alant, Angelique Gerber of 7de Laan, singer George Meiring). Also our veteran beauties, actresses Lizz Meiring and Brumilda van Rensburg and our own cougar Loui Fish.

Catch Eagan, Gavin and Loui tonight, 21h30 on kykNET’s Tonge Los…be warned, it’s addictive.

The three "skinderbekke" Loui Fish, Gavin Prins and Eagan Williamson - LOVE them!

Here's a toast to Eagan Williamson and his team - cling cling!

PS: Thank the Lordy for PVR - now we can watch the show, over and over and over...!

It’s the end of the work week and that means… Celebrity Friday!

This week we chatted to one of the most prominent voices on the Western Cape’s biggest and best radio stations, KFM 94.5 – yip, the one and only Ryan O’Connor!

Catch Ryan weekly... just like we do!

Here we go….

GL: Apart from the KFM breakfast show, who is Ryan O’Connor?
RO: I am a born and bred Capetonian who enjoys the outdoors and spending quality time with friends and family. I love spending time with happy positive people who enjoy life to its fullest.
GL: We heard you went to the Academy Awards; please give us some more info…?
RO: I went to the 77th Academy Awards in LA. It was amazing. I was in the same hotel as Charlie Sheen and Keira Knightley and got to spend a week rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of Hollywood.
GL: We know you're an expensive watch fanatic, care to share the price tag and make of your last buy?
RO: My last purchase was a few days ago in New York where I collected an IWC (International Watch Company) Yacht Club that I had ordered a while ago. It retails for around R110 000.
GL: It is said that you are the rising star in radio, why broadcasting?
RO: I have always loved the idea of radio. Since Primary School. The ability to creep into peoples lives at any given time of the day when they are going about their lives. Being a part of that journey. The fact that it’s done live daily is another draw card.
GL: What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
RO: I want to go on a cruise ship around the world. I’d really like to host my own tv talk show when I’m in my forties and I’d like to learn to cook a world class meal before then!

Catch Ryan every week morning from 06h00 – 10h00am on KFM Breakfast along with Charmaine Noy, Jeremy Harris and all the other crazy characters…   Thanks to Ryan for taking the time out of his busy schedule in order to chat to us!
