Saturday I went with some friends to the Frida Kahlo Museum in Coyoacan. It's called the Casa Azul (blue house), quite literally for its color, and is where Frida Kahlo was born, lived for some time and died. The house was built by Kahlo's father before she was born and Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived there from 1929-1954. The house is filled with artwork by Kahlo and Rivera, photographs, letters, books, collections of Mexican crafts and pre-hispanic art, and items from their daily life (Kahlo's brace and crutches, art supplies, kitchen stuff, etc).

Our group consisted of 1 American, 1 Colombian and 2 Germans. So far it's been easier to meet international students because we're all in the same situation -- we're new here, looking for friends and want to do touristy things.

After the museum we got some quesadillas (I tried flor de calabaza -- squash flower) and churros and wandered around downtown Coyoacan.
