Friday:
Friday we celebrated Martin's birthday. Feliz cumple!
Saturday:
Saturday we went to the Palacio de Bellas Artes (see previous post) and then wandered around the Zocalo. We had a tasty lunch a a restaurant called La Rambla, which has been around for 70 (ish) years.
(Careful not to step in the large holes in the sidewalk from construction!!)
We watched some awesome street performers.
September 16 marks 200 years of Mexico's independence from Spain and 100 years since the Mexican Revolution. Decorations are popping up all over the city, as well as stands selling flags, decorations, etc.
Sunday:
Sunday a friend from the master's program invited a group of us over for lunch. We enjoyed a delicious meal (with Brazilian, Indian, Mexican and Russian influences) and lots of interesting conversation, with topics ranging from politics, to religion, to literature to movies.
